Playing online poker against sandstone players is really funny. They are the kind of players who like to go to barely all flops and then they easily got scared and leave. Their tactic is “I go to the flop and sooner or later I will hit a good hand”.

So, if you are first on a preflop against a sandstone player, you must always raise 3x or 4x. They will call the same with 1x blinds or 4x blinds; so that you are a solid player and you are playing with a good hand you can consider yourself ahead on the preflop and getting extra money is the best you can do. Do not try to steal blinds at them; they like to call preflops and more if they are in the blinds position.

If you are second to act and a sandstone player limps the preflop, do not try to scare him away by raising, only raise when you got a good hand to go to the flop. They are not easily scared on the preflop, so do not try to bluff them away. If you have a good hand enough to play, do not hesitate in raising when a sandstone player limps the pot or reraising to 9x if he raised something like 3x. Once they have put their money into the preflop it is very difficult for them to fold without calling it.

Once the flop hits the table, and if you are first to act, whatever you have and no matter if you hit or not you must bet. You don’t need to bet a huge amount of money to bluff them, ½ pot will be ok to scare a sandstone away and you will pocket the pot easily. If they call, watch out for possible flushes or straights on the turn. Sandstone players are calling stations who like to chase you, so you must take profit of it and if you have something good on the flop, bet the pot and they may chase you drawing for flush even if the odds say they must go away.

If you are second to act on a flop and a sandstone checks, you must bet either you hit or not. If you want to bluff them away do not push too much, a small amount would be enough, even ¼ of the pot will do if they didn’t hit and have no chances of drawing. These little bets can be very profitable against a sandstone, however, if you hit on the flop you must push hard because of their calling station nature, do not let them draw cheap or free!!

As a general guideline, sandstone players are easy to scare away if they got nothing and they don’t usually bluff so you shall not call a big amount of money if they are going all in. Also, forget about slow playing against sandstone players, they are not likely to bet unless they got something strong.
